Playin in the leaves

I absolutely adore the fall. It is my favorite time of year. I love the vibrant colors, the chilly air, and the leaves crunching underfoot. Today we took Emslee to the park and let her play. It was so fun! I put her in a pile of leaves, which of course she proceeded to eat. She was fascinated by them. Maybe she'll turn into an Autumn-lover just like her mom!

7 months!

I know I say this each and every time I post about her, but I still can't believe how fast she's grown up! She amazes me more every day. She loves to laugh, especially when she's tired. She has a special place in her heart for her daddy, and she loves when he dances in the kitchen with her to his Dave Matthews cd. When she sees a toy she wants, she will roll and scoot with all her might til she can reach it. She says "mama" but only when she wants my attention or when she's upset. (Trust me, you can't coax it out of her - I've tried.)
Her favorite things at 7 months: my cell phone, her blankie, her link toys, blowing raspberries, bathtime, getting tickled, and trying to pull herself to a sitting position while lying down.
Her least favorite things: her car seat, solid foods, and church. (Who can blame the poor girl? That's a long time to sit and be bored, especially during what should be naptime.)
We love you Emslee! I can't wait to see what the next 7 months will bring!

Emee Jo's Fro

Each evening as part of the bedtime process, we give Emslee a bath. The other night I gave her a bath and sat down and nursed her for awhile. Afterwards, her hair was HUGE. It was hilarious! Jason and I couldn't stop laughing at her, which in turn made her laugh too. What a cute little girl!

Millions of Peaches

This past week I spent a few days in Preston, canning peaches with my mom. We were really ambitious when we bought the peaches - we got FOUR bushels. (What can I say? We negotiated a good price on them.) Everything was going fine, we had down a great system and were working away nicely. Until....
My parent's garbage dispos-all literally THREW UP all over the place. Ugh. What a mess! We got it cleaned up, but my mom and I couldn't figure out how to get the plumbing put back together. We enlisted the help of Jason, who put things back together for us. We got back to work, but an hour later water started seeping out of the cabinet under the sink. Double UGH! We finally relented and called a plumber. After only fifteen minutes in the kitchen, everything was fixed! Yay!
After 82 quarts, we finished our peach adventure and may I say, they are beautiful. I had so much fun with my mom! We get to be pretty darn hilarious when we're cooped up in a kitchen for hours on end. (Just ask Jason.)
Yay for Fall and for peaches and for Moms!
